Electricity
Did you know that 1 kWh is....
Did you know that 1 kWh (kilowatthour) is:
- potential energy of 36 tons of water on 10 meters height,
- kinetic energy of 9000 kilograms heavy truck that runs with 100 kilometres/hour speed,
- mechanical work that 1000 kilograms heavy personal car accomplish, by friction overpowering (with air and wheels on asphalt),
on about
7,5 kilometres distance with 100 kilometres/hour speed, - thermal energy necessary for 11 degrees Celsius temperature increase of 80 kg (80 liter) of water,
- chemical energy necessary for separation of
5 decagrams of aluminium in electrolysis procedure.
But it is also electric power needed for 100 W light bulb during 10 hours, so that bulb can produce about 5-15% light in visible radiation, and rest of energy is transformed to heat.
Or about 5 hours of personal computer in operation.

Price of 1 kWh (2006) in USA is about USD 0,4, in Germany about 0,2 EUR (tax included). And some people say that electricity is expensive.
